Amy & Ricky, Tythe Barn Wedding

11th September 2017

Amy & headed back to one our favourite venues, our home from home, The Tythe Barn at Launton the other day for the wedding of Amy & Ricky.

Amy started off in Kidlington near to the church where she captured images of Ricky gathering with his best man & ushers in the pub! They then made their way into the church                                        just around the corner. There everyone gathered in the sunshine before making his or her way into the church.

I made my way to straight to The Barn & The Nook where Amy, her Mum & her sister who was also a bridesmaid were getting ready. The Nook is a wonderful secluded spot where the bridal party can get ready together in comfort & close proximity to the barn. The Nook is divided in to two main rooms – one side caters solely for the bride whilst the other room has been created to offer a      large space for the bridesmaids, mother of the bride, make up artists & hairdressers. Both rooms have been carefully thought out and the needs of the bride and her                                                    attendants have been considered at every stage.

Amy’s dress was just stunning, a confection of taffeta & beautiful beading & she made a beautiful bride. Emotions on a wedding day run high & I love the moment when the                                           Father of the Bride sees his daughter for the first time. It’s a really touching moment & I love the images I captured of Amy & her Dad when he arrived & saw her for the first time.

It was now time for Amy to get to the church to meet her groom. As we arrived at the church Amy’s sister was waiting with the four little bridesmaids.                                                                                     They made their way into the church to a smiling groom.

It was a lovely service with smiles & tears & a very happy couple made their way back down the aisle.

As the guests gathered outside we did some group shots by the entrance to the church before Amy & Ricky left to a flurry of confetti.

Once they arrived at the barn we did some shots with the Bentley before Amy & Ricky joined their guests for a drinks reception in the garden.                                                                                                        We did the group shots there with the garden as a backdrop before taking Amy & Ricky away to do some shots of the two of them.

There are some great places around the barn for shots, the folly, garden & shepherds hut to name but a few. It was soon time to go back to the barn, beautiful self-carve roast                                             beef waits for no man or photographer. We made a date to get back out to do a few more shots after dinner.

We then made our way back to the barn to join their guests for the wedding breakfast in the wonderful vaulted space. After the speeches & a delicious meal the guests spilled out onto the lawns with tea & coffee. We borrowed the happy couple & got some fabulous shots of them on the tree lined drive way. I particularly love the shots of Amy with her veil.

After Amy & Ricky had their first dance everyone joined them on the dance floor & they boogied the night away……

Ellie & Phillip – An Aston Rowant Wedding

9th September 2017

Recently the team at Mark Lord Photography were delighted to photograph a wedding right on our doorstep! Ellie & Phillip were married at the lovely church in our village,                                          Aston Rowant followed by a marquee reception in the next-door village Kingston Blount.

I dropped Amy off with the groom Phillip who with his Best Man & Ushers who were making the final touches to the marquee. I went to Ellie’s family home & captured images of her & her bridesmaids getting ready. I always love being part of the day from the very start & this wedding was no exception. There is an almost ceremonial feeling to the process of preparing a bride to meet her groom. I love the shot of her Dad giving her a kiss just after her walking down the stairs & her Mum looking proudly on.

It was soon time for Phillip & the boys to make the short walk from Kingston Blount to Aston Rowant, past the cricket ground, village green……& Mark Lord Photography HQ to the church.            Amy started taking shots of the guest’s arrival & before long I joined her ahead of the arrival of the bride.

Ellie’s bridesmaids were waiting for her & helped arrange her tulle before she made her way into the church.

The service was beautiful & a very happy couple made their way out of the church into the sunshine.                                                                                                                                                                              The made their way to their car in a flurry of confetti & their guests waved them goodbye.

We had already made arrangements to stop on the way to the reception at couple of close by locations for the shots of the two of them. The first was Aston Park, which was once the location of a large country house & has a lovely lake. We then moved onto the second location, a bridleway called the Icknield Way.

The couple are both local & love the countryside around here so it was important to capture some images of them with the landscape they love so much.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 We then moved onto the famous (well, locally!) sunflowers where we captured some fabulous shots with the sun hitting the vibrant yellow.

We then made our way to the reception venue, which was a marquee on a local farm owned by the Clark family who I have done some photography with before. It was a lovely afternoon with gorgeous sunshine & the guests mingled chatting & playing badminton & table tennis. We then brought all the guests together for the group photos. This included a shot of everyone & Ellie & Phillip had requested the help of Jamie the farmer & his Manitou! Luckily I am ok with heights so clambered aboard & Jamie lifted me into the air to capture a few frames.

After the group photographs the guests started to make their way into the marquee for the wedding breakfast. The happy couple were piped into the marquee by Phillip’s Dad on the bagpipes. We captured some fabulous shots of the speeches including Ellie’s Grandad’s expression to the reaction to his grace which was read out by Ellie’s Mum. After the speeches it was time to cut the cake & we then made our way home as they hit the dance floor.

Anna & Sandy, Ardington House Wedding

12th August 2017
Oxfordshire Wedding Photography

Recently Amy & I headed off to the beautiful Ardington House to photograph the wedding of Anna & Sandy. The bride & groom found us by recommendation, we have photographed several of their friend’s weddings. We love it that our happy couples feel they recommend us to their friends & families.

Amy joined Sandy, his Best Men, Ushers & parents to capture getting ready shots whilst I stayed with the bridal party at Ardington House.

Ardington House is a beautiful stately home in Oxfordshire. It is an idyllic venue for your wedding with the house & stunning marquee set in the extensive grounds. All weddings have exclusive use of the house & grounds so give a wonderful relaxed feel to the day.

Anna, her bridesmaids & family were getting ready at the house. The beautiful rooms with large windows offered a wonderful backdrop for the bridal preparation images. I love this part of the day, capturing the flurry of hair & make up but one of my favourite moments is when the Father of the Bride sees his daughter for the first time. Nothing like a proud father to get the emotions going!

Meanwhile Amy was with the boys making the journey to the church in Wantage, capturing the guests arriving & an expectant groom waiting for his bride.

I was travelling with Anna’s Mum & bridesmaid which meant I was able to be with Anna for as long as possible but before long it was time to make our way to the church. I was in place in readiness for Anna’s arrival in the gorgeous vintage car & to capture some lovely shots of her bridesmaids waiting for her. I then dashed into the church to take my place at the top of the aisle for the service.

It was a beautiful service & the very happy couple made their way back down the aisle to the congratulations of their friends & family. After being showered with confetti under an arch of tennis rackets, cricket bats & golf clubs (watch out Grandad!) Anna & Sandy made their way back to Ardington House.

As their guests mingled on the lawns we took the formal group shots & then took the happy couple out into the grounds to capture some shots of the two of them. The house & grounds give a wonderful variety of backdrops & that, along with a gorgeous couple lends to some wonderfully stylish couple shots.

We never like to keep the couple away for too long. It was soon time for them to rejoin their guests & make their way into the stunning marquee. The speeches were just wonderful; hilarious & emotional. There certainly were a few tears both of laughter & sadness. There was also a surprise performance by the singing waiters, it was wonderful to see the guests reactions!

It was then time for the happy couple to take their first dance as a married couple before they were joined by their friends & families on the dance floor. As always, we left them dancing the night away!

Katie & Mike, Horspath & Thame Wedding

31st July 2017

With all the ‘changeable’ weather we have had recently it was lovely to wake up on the morning of Katie & Mike’s wedding to sunshine. Becky was on

driving duties again & dropped me off just around the corner from us at The Lambert Arms before taking Amy to where Michael & the boys

were getting ready. She then dropped back to The Lambert Arms ready to whizz me to the church when the time came.

Meanwhile Amy was getting some shots of the boys getting ready before they made their way to the church in Horspath

near Oxford to meet the guests. The girls made their final preparations & it was time for me to get to the church so I was ready to capture the bride’s arrival.

It was a lovely service in the family church & a very happy Bride & Groom made their way back down the aisle to the smiles &

congratulations of their friends & families. It was a day of sunshine & showers & as they made their way back to the cars it was umbrellas up.

Luckily it was only a short shower & by the time they arrived at The Thame Barns Centre for the reception the sun was out again.

We captured the group photos in the sunshine outside the barn before we went with the bride & groom to get some shots of the two of them.

Just near the barn in the centre of Thame there is a lovely little dovecote in the churchyard & the architecture of the

church gave us some lovely backdrops for their images. All within a 2 minute walk of the barns.

But it was soon time to get the happy couple back to their guests for the wedding breakfast.

After the heartfelt & emotional speeches & delicious meal it was time for everyone to relax but before long it was time for the new Mr & Mrs

to have their first dance as a married couple. Then they were joined on the dance floor by their guests

& we left them all dancing the night away.
